The Volvo carmaker withdraws 507,000 cars worldwide due to the danger of the engine igniting due to a malfunction of one of the parts, reports the Local edition.
According to the publication, the intake pipe in these cars is made of plastic and may melt due to temperature changes. «In several cases, this led to a fire in the car,» says the publication of the word by Volvo spokesman Stefan Elfström.
These are the V40, V60, V70, S80, XC60 and XC90 models with four-cylinder diesel engines manufactured between 2014 and 2019.
At the moment there is no information about accidents or injuries caused due to this malfunction.
The carmaker stated that it is contacting car owners by mail. «We are working on a technical solution to the problem. Until we are finished, we ask our customers to monitor error messages related to the motor. If there are no error messages, it means the machine is safe,» Elfstrom said.
Earlier this year, Volvo has already withdrawn more than 200 thousand cars due to problems in the fuel supply system and another 167 thousand cars worldwide due to problems with the electric tailgate.
